ASCAP: The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers

I’ve been privileged to sit on the Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers. This performing rights organization, which recently celebrated its centennial, has helped nurture the careers of generations of songwriters and composers. Their advocacy in Washington, their support through the foundation of music in schools and their unfailing support of the creative community at large, through guaranteeing that we get paid properly for our creative output, has made all of the difference in my life and the lives of millions of creators worldwide.

SCL: The Society of Composers & Lyricists

For a young composer entering the marketplace or the seasoned veteran, who hopes to stay abreast of the rapidly changing landscape of media music, the SCL is the place to be. I joined the organization early in my career and was fortunate to serve as its president for ten years. There is no better place to join with colleagues as our business continues to evolve and grow.

Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden

This is simply the most magical spot in all of southern California. I add a link here because the garden has been a passion of mine since my children were old enough to walk. There’s no place that I know that can renew the spirit and warm the heart.
